A North Devon man has been imprisoned for violating an order requiring him to stay away from teenage girls. Jamie Davison not only met three girls but also provided them with cannabis, the court heard.
The defendant aged 21 years old, was previously issued a Sexual Risk Protection Order by the court. This was following concerns by the police about his behaviour. The order prohibited him from being in the company of any female under the age of 18.
Exeter Crown Court informed that he breached the order by exchanging messages with a teenage girl, subsequently supplying, and meeting her in Whiddon Valley Woods.
The defendant, residing at Westbourne Terrace, Westward Ho!, admitted to three breaches of the SRO and possession with intent to supply cannabis. Judge James Adkin said: “It’s pretty clear you were seeking out and enjoyed meeting teenage girls.”
The court was informed that Davison was acquitted by a jury last year of a serious sexual offense against a teenager. Davison a the time believed the victim was 16 or older.
He added: “The picture is of a man, then aged 19, with a sexual interest in young girls and this was a deliberate breach.”
Judge Adkin stated that Davison posed a risk of causing serious harm and sentenced him to 18 months in jail. He will serve 40% of that sentence in prison.
He stated that the court lacked the authority to impose a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. However, suggested that probation officials “may want to think carefully” about Davison’s license conditions.
Hollie Gilbery, defending Jamie Davison, stated that he was immature for his age. He had not properly understood the order, is neurodivergent, and will be heavily monitored upon his return to the community.
