Would you like to join an unforgettable moonlit walk on the Tarka Trail, featuring live entertainment, breath-taking views and an opportunity to support local families facing difficult times? This year Bideford will be the starting point of the North Devon Hospice Nightwalk.
North Devon Hospice ladies-only walking event, Nightwalk, returns for 2025 and promises to be bigger and better than ever. Over 1,000 women and girls are expected to walk under the stars to raise essential funds for local hospice care.
On Saturday, 17th May at 7:30 PM, Nightwalk will guide participants on a magical moonlit sponsored walk along North Devon’s Tarka Trail. Starting from Bideford, participants can choose to walk the shorter route (three miles to Instow) or the longer route (10 miles to Barnstaple), enjoying the stunning sunset along the way and creating memories to cherish as part of this exciting and memorable celebration.
North Devon Hospice Nightwalk
“We are so excited to be bringing back Nightwalk for 2025 and gathering our female community in North Devon together again for this spectacular event,” said Georgia Bedgood, events manager at North Devon Hospice.
“I’m delighted to announce that for the first time ever, we’ll all be gathering at the same start point to begin the walk, and we’ll have our very own Nightwalk event village, complete with a stage, fun warm-up, glow-up station, live music and so much more. This will make the atmosphere at Nightwalk even more electric as we stride together on this magical evening to make a difference to people in our community.”
In addition to the exciting new addition of the event village, Nightwalkers can also enjoy lively entertainment on the trail, including music, lights, and refreshments. The Memory Bridge at Fremington Quay will return this year, offering participants the opportunity to write a message in memory of someone they have lost.
It’s all for a good cause
“For lots of ladies taking part, Nightwalk is about coming together in solidarity, perhaps to remember someone special but to show their support for people facing a life-limiting illness right now,” added Georgia. “Everyone deserves care and compassion at the end of life. Let’s walk together to make it happen.”
Catrin Nadin, a nurse of the hospice’s Bedded Unit, knows first-hand the difference the fundraising from Nightwalk will make to local patients and families. “Every day, we have the privilege of scooping up local families and caring for them at a time when they need it most,” said Catrin. “By taking part in Nightwalk, you’re helping to ensure we can continue to offer this wrap-around care and a lifeline of comfort and support to people in our community experiencing their toughest times.”
